RC Cars - Toys for the Big Boys
Remote control cars are a favorite of boys and men alike. There's something about an engine (whether battery of fuel operated) that males love. Remote control cars are an extension of this. There are two different levels of remote control cars - one is fairly basic for younger children. The second is for the hobbyist, which is better for an experienced teenager or man.
While the two different types of remote control (RC) cars seem to be the same, they have many differences. The amateur RC cars are simply modeled to look like a real car, whereas the hobby level cars actually have all the components of a full size car. Not only does this mean that you can do more tricks, and actually drive this model car, but it also requires the general maintenance like oil changes and engine flushes.
There are 2 different types of hobby level remote control cars - those that are fuel powered and those that are electrical powered. The electrical powered cars are lighter, however, they don't go as fast. While the fuel powered cars go faster than the electrical counterpart, they require more maintenance, and are heavier. When a hobbyist is choosing a car, they should also consider whether they want a vehicle that is built for all terrain, as if they want to do off-roading, the car may not be able to handle this.
Whenever you're choosing an RC car, whether for yourself or others, you should consider what you want to do with the car. If you want to drive it in suburban areas on pavment, then you should be fine to purchase an everday RC car. If you want to take it in the grass/brush, you should purchase something that's designed for off roading. Whatever you decide, you should research your vehicle first before you choose something you don't truly want.
